George
Christopher Chambers
Bassist / Vocalist for Landia
Chris, as we call him in the band, wants to tell you his story personally.....
I was born December 27, 1959 in Hollywood, California to Mr. George E.
Chambers and Mrs. Bonnie Chambers. My parents were originally from Mississippi.
I have two brothers, Kelvin and Keith, and one sister, Kimberly.
I developed a love for music at an early age and by the time I was six
my father gave me my first guitar. My love for music still continues to
grow! I then became interested in playing the drums. By the time I was
19 I was playing with the world renowned Chambers Brothers! I continued
to play with them throughout the Eighties and early Nineties. It was while
playing with the Chambers Brothers that I developed the skills to play
the bass guitar.
I distinctly recall the first time I saw my father, the bass player,
up on stage. I could see how the audience loved what he was doing and
what effect the music had upon them!! From that point on I started striving
to be where he was...up on stage!!! Playing with the Chambers Brothers
was like a dream come true! That is where the vast majority of my musical
knowledge was obtained. I couldn’t have had better teachers.
While playing in the "Los Angeles Street Scene" I met Wesley
King! We became friends and began to grow together in the music industry.
Wesley introduced me to the Gospel music industry. That’s when I knew
that my heart was in Gospel music. In 1983 I met Dennis King when I was
still playing the drums. Now, he is the "Stick Man" for me!!
His drumming puts the driving force in my bass playing!!!
I met David through Dennis and Wesley in 1997. I’ve never met anyone
like David. He is a unique person. I don’t think David realizes what he
truly means to us. We joke with each other, but when push comes to shove
we are all down for each other. That’s the only way that a group can make
it in todays music business. This bond will carry us a long way because
we can bear what is placed before us together!
My happiness comes from knowing that God directs my every step. My love
for my wife, children and music allow me to express myself through the
music in a way that is hard to put into words.
I love all types of music! I can usually listen to a song and get some
type of message. Today, many artists are not sending their own messages.
That’s the one thing that makes LANDIA stand out! We are sending out our
own message. It is ours. We created it from beginning to end. Unlike so
many other bands, LANDIA has something to say and we want our message
to be loud and clear. There is a force that we produce on stage that cannot
be duplicated or explained. You have to experience a LANDIA show to know
what I mean. I hope to see you there!
